Stockholm Business Region

Stockholm, located in eastern Sweden on the Baltic Sea, has industrial and financial muscle that cannot be matched in northern Europe, strengthened by a generally strong knowledge of English and a dynamic loop – a convergence of needs, skills and attitudes that build on one another.

Today, there are few other areas with as many multinational corporations as Stockholm. Here you will find a highly efficient region with a solid economic foundation and stable political institutions, a highly educated, dedicated and forward-looking workforce, and cutting-edge technologies and clusters. As a market, Stockholm has become the important hub in the rapidly expanding Baltic region, as well as being an integral part of the growing EU market.

There are some 20 universities and university colleges in the Stockholm region, with varying educational profiles and roughly 90,000 enrolled students.

The Stockholm region, which has 47 municipalities, has 3 million inhabitants, more than 50 % of Sweden’s total R&D capacity, 7,228 foreign-owned companies (2002), and key developing industries such as ICT, Automation & Robotics, Life Science, Banking & Finance, Cleantech, Logistics, Hospitality and Construction & Infrastructure.

The advantages of setting up business in the Stockholm region are: It is simple, fast and inexpensive to set up a business; access to highly-qualified workers; close cooperation between business, universities and scientific institutions; financial center of northern Europe; leading information and telecom center; gateway to the Russian and Baltic markets.
