The County of Kronoberg is the entrepreneurial region of Sweden, and the region where IKEA was born.

Kronoberg is situated in the heart of Småland with equal distance to the west- and east coast. With more lakes than any other county it is an attractive area to live. Many SMEs were started and grown from the garage at home. The spirit of IKEA; hard working, inventive, forward looking and cost conscious is present throughout society. The labour force is highly educated, has a low absent rate and is able to provide good influence in a number of corporates which has adopted a humane leadership style.

The main industrial sectors in the region are heavy vehicles for use in the forestry and building trade, wooden house construction, bio- and environmental energy techniques as well as aluminium use and trade. Design of furniture and glass is well known internationally and the space project Lois Lofar is hoping to become the driver of ICT in the next decade. Subcontractors are well placed given the excellent communication routes by road, rail and air.
