Danish Crown

 

Danish Crown, the international food producer and Europe’s largest meat processing company, has built an 8,000 spam production site for prepacked meat in Jönköping, the logistic hub in southern Sweden. The production site, the most modern of its kind, will supply the Swedish customer Axfood with packaged meat to all it’s 500 grocery store chains Hemköp and Willy’s.

Huawei Technologies

 

China’s largest networking and telecom equipment company Huawei has set up its second Swedish R&D center in Göteborg with the focus on microwave and radio frequency development. Huawei placed its first level-one R&D center outside from China in Kista, Stockholm, in 2001 with the focus on next generation wireless technology. Huawei chose Sweden due to its position as a leading ICT nation and forerunner within R&D and innovation.

Intertek

Intertek, a UK-based provider of quality and safety solutions, is creating a new world-class laboratory in Stockholm to test battery packs for electric and hybrid cars. The move follows Intertek Semko’s acquisition of Sagentia Catella, an independent Swedish consultancy and test lab specializing in battery, supercapacitor and fuel cell technologies.

Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma/BioInvent

 

Lund-based biopharmaceutical company BioInvent has entered a joint R&D cooperation with Japan’s Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma Corporation for the discovery and development of therapeutic antibodies.

Pfizer

 

Establishment of a new plant for biopharmaceutical manufacturing in Strängnäs in August 2009. After an extensive evaluation of ten competing sites, Sweden won the US$150 million investment of the 30,000 sqm manufacturing plant. The motive for Sweden was the long experience and great know-how in biopharmaceutical manufacturing and availability of a well-educated workforce.

The Norwegian contact center company Unicall has established a call center in Karlstad, western Sweden, with 80 employees to serve the company’s Scandinavian customers.

Xylophane/Capricorn Venture Partners

 

The Swedish technology company Xylophane, voted as one of the most promising cleantech companies in Sweden, received a capital investment from the pan-European venture capital fund manager Capricorn Venture Partners. Xylophane has developed a unique, patented barrier material for the packaging of items such as food products.
